Did you know...

This year, there’ll be 250,000 reports of child abuse and neglect in Australia - 50,000 of those reports will be substantiated - 30,000 children are tonight in State care, twice the number of a decade ago.

On Monday night I caught the end of Enough Rope with Andrew Denton. He was interviewing the Director of the Centre of Child Protection and the Uni of South Australia, Dorothy Scott, and two foster carers. I greatly admire the work of foster carers who try to provide a safe and secure environment for broken and often difficult children. The stories and scars that these children bring with them are often horrifying and require special care. To the foster carers out there, whether it's for emergencies, short or long term, THANK YOU!
