I don't mean to be a fun squasher and I know they're pretty and some quite clever things can be done with them, but every time I see fireworks (especially NYE style in cities across the country and world) I wonder these things:
How much did they cost?
What else could be done with that money?
I heard the other day from a friend that Disneyland has to pay a lot of extra tax in order to have their fireworks show every night to make up for the pollution. Not sure if this is true but you have to wonder about what it might do to the air.
Anyway on a side note, I'm away until next Thursday. This is my first action in response to my resolution about being generous with my time, money and resources. I'm heading to the beach to help lead on a camp for youth who live in rural areas and don't have youth groups and stuff like that. I haven't been on one for about two years, so it'll be good to get back into it. I'll see you when I get back. Enjoy your first week of the new year.
