So I’ve been thinking about whether I should post something about my hopes for the end of the year. I spend a lot of time talking in general terms with a general timeline about what I would like to do with my days. I think I have been afraid of talking specifics because I want to avoid any disappointment if things don’t happen the way I hope. My Dearest said the other day that if we don’t talk about stuff as if it is going to happen, then it never will…
So here is the plan…
At the end of the year, when Dearest has finished his degree, we want to head to the Philippines for about six weeks.
“What? I though you were obsessed with Cambodia…” True, Cambodia definitely holds a piece of my heart and I hope to return for an extended period, but at the moment the Philippines fits best for both of us.
The plan for while we are there is to spend some time with Dearest’s only extended family on his Mum’s side and close family friends. Secondly, we hope to meet up with some contacts that are working with the poor as well as build up a bit of a network. And thirdly, we hope to do some research and some testing of the waters, as to what opportunities there might be for both of us to spend some extended time “in the field”.
So there… I’ve said it, it’s out there. I’m trying not to get too ahead of myself. The biggest hurdle will be the finances. Things are always tighter through the year when Dearest can’t work as much because of uni. Hopefully if we can get ourselves organised we can deal with that and anything else that may arise. You'll probably hear more about this new adventure as it unfolds.
