Five Fast Facts

It's five sleeps until we leave for Cambodia and now I will be spending the rest of the week trying to get organised. While I am doing the boring stuff like printing out itineraries, packing and adopting Jimmy (the cat) out for a few weeks I thought I'd jot down a few interesting facts about Cambodia.

Fact 1: There are approximately 14.7 million people in Cambodia.

Fact 2: Khmer is the main official language (95%) as well as French and English. I only know about 5 useful Khmer phrases but I can count to 20.

Fact 3:  96.4% of the population identify as Buddhist (official religion), 2.1% Muslim, 1.3% other (whatever that means. I suppose it includes Christians and perhaps Jedi Knights).

Fact 4: About 31% of the population live below the poverty line.

Fact 5: The Cambodian flag is the only national flag that contains an image of an actual building on it - Angkor Wat.
The above facts have been taken from 'CIA- The World Factbook'. It is a fun website, check it out.
